The rupture produced a water jet seven stories high while large amounts of mud and debris were strewn all across the surrounding area, damaging cars and breaking nearby windows.
Fortunately, despite pedestrians walking just yards from the explosion, nobody was injured.
The pipe reportedly burst due to the pressure that built up underground during a hydraulic test conducted by the municipal utility company Kievenergo.

The incredible footage shows a burst water main exploding out of the ground next to a busy street.
The incident, which occurred in the Ukranian capital city of Kiev, resembled something out of a disaster movie with the concrete literally heaving upwards due to the force of the water.The rupture produced a water jet seven stories high while large amounts of mud and debris were strewn all across the surrounding area, damaging cars and breaking nearby windows.
