A man in China got the surprise of his life after visiting the doctor with severe pain in his ear.
The unnamed man had started to experience extreme discomfort in his ear canal after waking up on Tuesday morning and decided to head straight to the local hospital to have it looked at.

When a doctor examined the affected ear he was shocked to discover that there was a live gecko inside it. The reptile had somehow managed to crawl in there while the man had been sleeping.

Fortunately though, with the help of a pair of pliers and a sizable dose of anesthetic, the animal was successfully removed via a procedure that took little more than five minutes.
