One family got the surprise of their lives when they discovered that their adopted 'puppy' was actually a bear.
The new pet, which was adopted back in 2016 by Su Yun and her family of Kunming city, Yunnan province, was originally thought to be a Tibetan mastiff - a species of large dark-colored dog.
Despite the veracious appetite of their new 'puppy', the family hadn't suspected a thing until two years later when they finally realized that their beloved canine had become a 250-pound black bear.
According to the Yunnan Wildlife Rescue Center, the animal is an Asiatic black (or white chested) bear that also happens to be classed as a vulnerable species by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
These bears are highly valued on the black market and are also hunted for their body parts.
This one was quite fortunate to have been so well looked after.
