US government's UFO report has been released

Image Credit: dni.gov The nine-page document, which is entitled 'Preliminary Assessment: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena', was issued on Friday by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to provide "an intelligence assessment of the threat posed by unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) and the progress the Department of Defense Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF) has made in understanding this threat."

The UFO sightings analyzed were all recorded between 2004 and 2021 with many of these confirmed to be 'physical objects' due to being picked up by multiple sensors at the same time.

"In a limited number of incidents, UAP reportedly appeared to exhibit unusual flight characteristics," the report reads. "These observations could be the result of sensor errors, spoofing, or observer misperception and require additional rigorous analysis."

"A handful of UAP appear to demonstrate advanced technology," it continues.

"In 18 incidents, described in 21 reports, observers reported unusual UAP movement patterns or flight characteristics. Some UAP appeared to remain stationary in winds aloft, move against the wind, maneuver abruptly, or move at considerable speed, without discernible means of propulsion."

"The UAP documented in this limited dataset demonstrate an array of aerial behaviors, reinforcing the possibility there are multiple types of UAP requiring different explanations."The report also indicates that these objects could pose a potential threat to national security.

"UAP pose a hazard to safety of flight and could pose a broader danger if some instances represent sophisticated collection against U.S. military activities by a foreign government or demonstrate a breakthrough aerospace technology by a potential adversary," the report reads.

As for what these objects are, the report lists several possibilities.

"Some UAP observations could be attributable to developments and classified programs by U.S. entities," it reads. "We were unable to confirm, however, that these systems accounted for any of the UAP reports we collected. Some UAP may be technologies deployed by China, Russia, another nation, or a non-governmental entity."

At the end of the day, the report is essentially saying that these objects do exist, that some of them are exhibiting evidence of advanced technology, but that there is currently no definitive explanation for what they actually are.

The report also does not explicitly rule out the possibility that they are extraterrestrial in nature.
