Avril Haines spoke out about the possibility of extraterrestrial threats during a recent event.
Entitled "Our Future in Space", the event, which was held at the Washington National Cathedral, sought to discuss a range of topics pertaining to humanity's efforts to venture out into space, including the private space sector, the development of space weapons and the possibility of finding alien life.

One of the participants was Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines who spoke at length about the potential threat of UAPs (unidentified aerial phenomena) and the fact that there is not a proper system in place to collate and analyze sightings data.

"The main issues that Congress and others have been concerned about is safety of flight concerns and counterintelligence issues," she said.

"Always, there's also the question of, 'Is there something else that we simply do not understand, which might come extraterrestrially?'"
"A large portion of that is based on the fact that we don't have a consistent way of reporting [UFO sightings] - we need to integrate a lot of data that we get. We need to get better at collecting information that's useful to us from different sensors that are available to us."

"And we need to deepen our analysis in these areas, and that's something that doesn't surprise you in the way that we approach our intelligence work."

A few days ago, we reported that Congress was set to debate a new amendment to the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that could address some of Haines' concerns while also making information on the topic of UFOs a lot more accessible.

It should be interesting to see how this all pans out over the coming months.
