What do you do when your husband goes on a fishing trip without you ? Try to sell him on the Internet, of course.
Ireland's Linda McAlister, who now lives in New Zealand with her husband and their two kids, recently made headlines after deciding to punish her partner's decision to go on a fishing trip by listing him for sale on TradeMe - an online auction platform similar to eBay.
Describing him as a "shootin' and fishin' sort of fellow", McAlister wrote in the description that her husband John was "loyal provided he's fed and watered" and noted that he could be "anxious in new environments but is particularly good at self soothing."
"Sale is final, no returns or exchanges," she concluded.
The peculiar move was spurred on by the fact that his decision to go on a fishing trip during the school holidays meant that she had been left on her own to look after the kids.
The tongue-in-cheek auction posting also described him as "well handled" with "a number of previous owners" as well as "hard to catch, but travels well."
The auction managed to reach around NZD$100 (around $66 USD) before the platform took it down for violating the site's terms and conditions.
"While we love seeing Kiwis having fun, ultimately our priority is ensuring all of our members have a great experience onsite," said compliance manager James Ryan.
