Alleged 'sea monster' shows up on Google Earth image of Antarctica

Alleged sea monster in Antarctica.
Is this a real creature or something out of Spongebob ? Image Credit: TikTok / @googlethecurious
The creature, whatever it is, has sparked some heated debate online, with many dismissing the image as a hoax.
Given how little we know about the depths of the ocean around Antarctica, it is not unreasonable to assume that it is home to species of animal that we currently know nothing about.

Whether this recent photograph is evidence of this, however, remains a matter of debate.

The image, which appears to have been tagged to a location on Google Earth, shows a group of people - possibly researchers - in a boat off an island in Antarctica.

As the camera pans around, however, the image of a large creature can be clearly seen in the water.
While some users have hailed the picture as evidence of some sort of sea monster, what stands out straight away is the fact that the 'animal' bears an uncanny resemblance to the "Alaskan bull worm" - a fictional creature found in episodes of the SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon.

It certainly looks a little questionable - especially given the lack of any formal acknowledgement of the discovery from anyone in the boat and the fact that it looks like it has been digitally added to the shot.

You can check out the clip for yourself below - what do you think ?

That looks like an underwater feature of the ocean bottom to me, like a natural berm formation of sand or silt.

I can't help notice that many of you are trying to assume what it is before a question is to ask, is it real?

Good point, the whole video seems a bit fake, with that music and how it is made.
