The late duke, who was fascinated by the topic of alien visitors, was reportedly poised to meet up with one.
Husband to the late Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip - who died in 2021 at the age of 99 - was believed to have had a keen interest in the UFO phenomena.

Now according to a new documentary, The King Of UFOs, the prince had allegedly been involved in a plan to meet an actual extraterrestrial entity named Janus who had previously met with his equerry, Sir Peter Horsley.

According to director Mark Christopher Lee, the meeting was to take place in a flat in Chelsea.

"Horsley actually met this Janus entity in a flat in Chelsea in 1954 - he claimed that it had an ethereal otherworldly quality and it could read his mind and extract information about flying saucers," Lee told Metro.

"Horsley wanted Phillip to meet with this Janus as Janus had a message to give him that the world needed saving as Philip was a man of great vision."
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the meeting never actually took place.

"Philip didn't go to the meeting - and it's most likely that Janus could have been a Russian spy - but Horsley stuck to his belief that Janus was not of this world."

If Janus really was a Russian spy, it is likely they were hoping to take advantage of Philip's interest in the UFO phenomena to get access to him - perhaps to grill him for sensitive information.

Chillingly, it may have even been part of an assassination attempt.

The King Of UFOs will be streaming from September 20th on Amazon.

Lee Anderton from the Andertons yt channel was either in/or new a band in the 90s called "Hugh Janus and the well hung gardens of Babylon" Being someone who has read Horsley's book, I think I would rather have seen that band...
