Someone has been leaving a plate of bananas on the ground in Beeston, England every month for over a year.
According to local reports, a plate of peeled bananas has been placed on the corner of Abbey Road and Wensor Avenue in Beeston, Nottinghamshire on the second day of every month.
There is nothing special about the bananas themselves - of which there are typically between 16 and 20 - and there are never any notes or other indications left to explain why they have been left there.
On top of this, nobody ever takes or eats the bananas, meaning they quickly end up going moldy.
The mystery has left local residents scratching their heads.
"I've asked around in the local community but no-one really knows and no-one can tell me anything," said Clare Short who lives nearby.
"[The bananas] appear early in the morning on the second of the month, I see them on my way to work. I'd love to know the answer to this."
The fact that the bananas just sit there and go moldy has prompted some of the locals to try to encourage whoever is responsible to stop leaving them there.
Short even tried putting up a sign asking them to stop, but to no avail - the plate of bananas appeared at the same place on the second day of the month as usual.
"If they could come back and clean up the mess a few days later that would be lovely," she said.
"I think it's a special thing for [someone] and I wish them well."
