Declassified UK UFO files reference interest in obtaining alien technology

Newly published files from the UK's Defence Intelligence Staff reference UFO cases from the 1980s and 1990s.
The US is not the only country to have published a treasure trove of declassified government documents pertaining to the UFO phenomenon - some of the UK's own secret files relating to the topic can be found at the National Archives at Kew in southwest London.

Among these are reports by the Defence Intelligence Staff (DIS) - a military intelligence gathering and analysis organization that is now known more simply as Defence Intelligence (DI).

Back in the 1990s, there was a great deal of interest in the UFO phenomenon and in the possibility of obtaining extraterrestrial technology to further the country's own military goals.

At the time, a spate of sightings of black triangular UFOs had attracted the organization's attention.

"A supplementary issue is the possibility of technology acquisition," one report from the time states.

"UAPs do not appear to use conventional reaction propulsion. The Belgian deltas (confirmed by the country's MoD) hovered for long periods and accelerated quickly to supersonic speeds, outrunning F-16s. If this represents real technology perhaps it should be acquired."
Another report also mentioned the infamous Rendlesham Forest UFO incident.

"In both [Belgian and Rendlesham Forest] cases the UAP apparently did not use any conventional propulsion system and could hover as well as move at considerable speed," it stated.

"The French have always had an interest in this topic... and I am aware that there is an informal intelligence grouping in the US."

"Some reports described objects in terms of maneuver, speed and shape which lie beyond our engineering knowledge and that which could be reasonably expected from hostile powers."

"There is considerable difficulty, therefore, in assessing and prioritizing these reports sufficiently quickly to provide, where warranted, an active response..."

"Any future concerns, terrestrial or extraterrestrial, are likely to require national or international coordination, responsive only within security alliances."

As things stand, however, there is no evidence from the reports to suggest that the UK government ever actually did manage to acquire any examples of extraterrestrial technology.

Where are the unexplained jumps in our tech? I don't think I have ever seen a clear example of technology coming from nowhere.   And yeah, it is pretty stupid to not think that IF alien tech was found then it is OBVIOUS that governments would want it. Sheesh.

One that makes me wonder is the Baghdad battery. Did they even understand what they had?

Your gotta wonder why NASA and Elon are burning so much rocket fuel when they could just use back engineered magic triangles??

A brilliant, well-thought-out response from you, as usual. Looks like 2026 is doing you well... Please carry on ??

So basically, reports of UFO's were made and the MoD figured okay, let's take a look at this because we'd like some of that tech if it's true, and licked their lips. Then found nothing. It's cool that they took it seriously enough to investigate, but also not surprising. Government will give anything a chance if they think it'd give them some benefit against an adversary.
