The UK's own space agency has been launched and will take over responsibility for the country's space activities.
Described as a mini version of Nasa the new space agency won't be sending people to Mars any time soon but is a step towards a greater contribution by the UK in the worldwide efforts to help us reach the stars.
The UK Space Agency, as it is officially named, took off with the help of British astronaut Major Timothy Peake. But the accent at the launch in London was on the dry realities of economics rather than Dan Dare.
