A man taking photographs of an RAF Hercules as it approached RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire has snapped the image of a mysterious silver orb tailing the aircraft as it came in to land. The MoD have stated they will not investigate the sighting.
An amateur photographer believes he captured a UFO tracking an RAF Hercules as it approached RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire. John Powell, 56, claims an unusual silver orb was following the military craft as it came in to land at the base.

Although the photograph itself is clear, I find the UFO in question faded or translucent. Almost looks like a raindrop that may have dripped or splashed on the lens moments before the shot was taken. It seemingly cloudy on the picture after all. Otherwise, Mr. Powell's testimony is either missing details in the article as besides stating the UFO was tracking the plane, no mention of its movements or indication that would suspect it is in fact tracking.

Doesn't look like much cloud so raindrops would be counted out almost.

Doesn't look like much cloud so raindrops would be counted out almost. Agreed, I doubt it's a raindrop. However, I would've liked to hear more from Mr. Powell..

How do they know there's no potential threat unless they investigate? Good grief!! That's government for ya!

How do they know there's no potential threat unless they investigate? Good grief!! That's government for ya! Well there's only one answer for that. They already know what it is

A spokesman said: "The MoD examines reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity. "Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported." So there is something in UK airspace that is unexplained but because its just following Military vechicles and not shooting at them its all fine??? Yet the govt. wont acknowledge they exist??

The evidence presented is very inconclusive. As to the MoDs stance, retrospective defence is very risky ;-) Take the analogy of any of us sitting in our home, and an unknown intruder enters and wanders round - do we just sit there and wait for them to leave before asking "Who was that?"
