Hen lays giant egg six times normal size

In a peculiar story this week a hen has laid an egg six times heavier than normal weighing some 4.2 ounces.
Despite the enormous size of the egg the unusual event is not by any means record-breaking, the largest chicken egg on record was a gargantuan 16 ounces in weight.
It was only the fourth egg she had ever laid. But judging by its size, Matilda the hen was lucky it wasn’t her last. The monster egg she produced this week weighs 4.2oz – six times heavier than a normal one.

my question is: why didn't they hatch the giant egg and have a giant hen?? that thing would've been freakin' huge! now all that guy stands to gain is a giant omelet. fail.

Sounds logical, but she looks fine in the photo. Unless it’s a lookalike instead of real, dead Matilda. Anyway, be it conspiracy or not, poor hen. You can be turn up inside and look fine outside. as someone stated it would be like delivering a 50 lb baby. how turn up would the mom be.
