Did Mediterraneans reach America first ?

Alex Zelaya investigates the theory that ancient Mediterraneans may have been first to reach the Americas.
The idea is based off of an ancient inscription found upon the Los Lunas Decalogue Stone, the writing is thought to be Greek or Hebrew and could indicate the presence of Mediterranean people in America thousands of years ago.
Also known as the Los Lunas Mystery Stone or Commandment Rock, the stone appears to bare an ancient inscription in either Greek or Hebrew, and has left many wondering if it's proof that Mediterranean peoples came to North America thousands of years ago.

The following excerpts may be of interest: Ancient Phoenicians in America Phoenician relics and writings have been found around the world. What evidence, if any, do we find that these Phoenicians sailed to America? At Los Lunas, near Albuquerque, New Mexico, is a version of the Ten Commandments engraved on a rock, and another similar inion has been found on a stone tablet in a burial mound at Newark, Ohio. These are ancient inions using a north Canaanite and old Hebrew language. These petroglyphs date to 900-800 BCE and are in the Old Hebrew language and using a Phoenician alphabet.10 ... Fel... [More]

Questionmark already posted this in the "Palaeontology, Archaeology & History" forum: 2000-year-old pills found in Greek shipwreck 15 September 2010 In 130 BC, a ship fashioned from the wood of walnut trees and bulging with medicines and Syrian glassware sank off the coast of Tuscany, Italy. Archaeologists found its precious load 20 years ago and now, for the first time, archaeobotanists have been able to examine and analyse pills that were prepared by the physicians of ancient Greece. DNA analyses show that each millennia-old tablet is a mixture of more than 10 different plant extracts, f... [More]

Well, before you jump up and down: first it is preliminary, and second there are quite a few saturated fats that have the properties of sunflower oil. Besides, as explained in the same article, it is yet unclear whether it is a modern contamination. That box has been sitting around for quite a while under god knows what conditions. Heh, I wasn't jumping up and down, but if it's proven that the original pills really contained sunflower, then maybe we could all start doing a bit of dancing.

I would like to know where the pills were stored for the past 20 years. I'm sure someone didn't just go in amongst this horde of pills and sprinkle sunflowers all over them. If it is found that the contents of the pills are examined and they are "composed" of sunflowers, how does that make them contaminated? Did someone in the past 20 years melt them down, put sunflower oil in them and re-make them? If all else fails, blame it on contamination.

Heh, I wasn't jumping up and down, but if it's proven that the original pills really contained sunflower, then maybe we could all start doing a bit of dancing. Did a quick check: Asiatic Thistle Oil or saturated fat has properties much like sunflower. It is considerably more difficult to make than sunflower oil or saturated fat.

Did a quick check: Asiatic Thistle Oil or saturated fat has properties much like sunflower. It is considerably more difficult to make than sunflower oil or saturated fat. The conclusions were based on DNA sequencing: His team obtained the tablets from a shipwreck off the coast of Tuscany that probably occurred between 140 and 120 BCE, based on items recovered from the ship, which was excavated in the 1980s and 90s. Among them was a wooden medical chest stocked with well-preserved tablets filled with what looked like ground plants and vegetables. To find out what the medicines were made of, Fle... [More]

In a previous post it was stated that there is a stone in new mexico with g-d's commandments on it. This is a hoax. I will find a link if anyone wishes. The rest I have no particular knowledge on but that stone is not real. It's old but that's it. Thank you
