The octopus that rose to fame by predicting World Cup results this year has died.
Paul the octopus gained a substantial following during the 2010 World Cup by accurately predicting match results by selecting a mussel from one of two boxes bearing the flags of the two competing teams.
The oracle octopus who slithered to stardom this summer by predicting the results of World Cup games has succumbed to something he didn't predict -- his death.

Now this will go down in the record books as one of those unexplained mysteries that was never solved. Bummer. Did anyone make bets based on his predictions and win money?
