Danish amateurs launch home made rocket

Copenhagen Suborbitals have successfully launched their HEAT-1X rocket over the Baltic Sea.
Perhaps the thought of a hair dryer being incorporated into a vehicle meant to take humans into sub-orbital space would deter some from jumping at the chance to take flight, but this and other money saving choices are behind a Danish company's plans to bring affordable space flight to the average person.
A private Danish rocket launched into the sky today (June 3) on its first successful test flight — a trip that didn't reach anywhere near space but did mark a huge step forward for the team's plan to eventually loft people on cheap suborbital spaceflights.

This reminded me of the Star Trek NG episode where them put the Klingon Currier in the torpedo with life support for fast travel. There is no way I would consider this no mater how low the cost.

I love their ingenuity, and I wish them well. Incorporating a hair dryer into the design may be a mistake, though, I have never had a reliable one in my life. LOL

That ship is made by amateurs? Wow. My amateur ship was always made with a washing machine box and a roll of aluminum foil...

I'm looking at it's model rocket like accel. It appears that the 6-8 g immediate acceleration might be a little much for someone to tolerate. G suit of not. And pressurized oxygen? An escape route in case things go haywire (a hatch and a parachute)? What about the heat. A sub orbital vehicle is going to be traveling fast enough to produce heat....and this thing is going to re-enter dense atmosphere, eh... [More]
