Second Mayan 2012 reference found

Mexico has acknowledged that more than one reference to 2012 has been found on Mayan artifacts.
While Mexico's archaeology institute is keen to dismiss any notion that 2012 is synonymous with the end of the world, it has formally recognised that a second reference to the infamous date may have been found on a carved fragment discovered at a ruin site in southern Mexico.
Most experts had cited only one surviving reference to the date in Mayan glyphs, a stone tablet from the Tortuguero site in the Gulf coast state of Tabasco.

The existence of child prodigies negates your statement. None of them did what they did because of a determination by age of where they should have fit at the time but by their cpabilities, else children as young as 7 would never have gotten into college. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_child_prodigies I see now that you are speaking from a subjective (your own) viewpoint as opposed to an objective (everyone's) viewpoint. That does make a difference. Having a different outlook for say the weekend when you have free time as opposed to the week when perhaps you have to work can have a stron... [More]

One's personal assessment of where he is in life begins with determining where he is in the world, both physically and spiritually. In Kabbalah, it is explained that the dimension of time is what connects the dimension of space (one's physical location) and the dimension of soul (one's spiritual location). By first knowing what day today is, one can know and link his physical location with his spiritual location. http://www.inner.org/times/calendar.php

I wasn´t suggestign that people develop abilities based on the calendar but rather the calendar which becomes internalized at a very early age will have an impact on how we view the past and future. When your schedule changed, how you approached each day changed. So if the calendat changed (which is really just a universally accepted schedule of counting time) wouldn.t it follow that your approach to each day would change?. By pyhsically changing how we calculate time, we can effect the way we psychologically experience it . Using your experience, imagine a calendar with a 14 day week with on... [More]

A change in the calendar would make a difference if it was done in your lifetime but if you were born, lived and died with a 14 day week there would be no change in the psychological experience. I was working in manufacturing and yes the pay was good but on the 14th day most of the time I just wanted to sleep. I think we may have to agree to disagree on this one. My belief is that our calendar becomes so internalized in our unconscious that it impacts us on ways we´ll never really know or realize and through this colours the way we see life and experience it.

The link doesn't work for me. They probably realised there are too many crazy claims that "2012 is the end" on the internet already...

The Mayan calendar, like all calendars do not predict anything, they just mark the passage of a certain amount of time. The Mayans never predicted anything for 2012. This is backed up by their modern day descendants. The Mayan long count once thought to end in 2012 actually ends in 2220 according to more recent research. The weird part is people would much rather believe the rags and fringe sites than the reality. You really need to ask yourself this question. If those saying the world is going to end in 2012 are right whay are they selling books and videos? I mean it's not like they are going... [More]
