Gao Bingguo set a new world record by engulfing his body in a swarm of bees weighing more than 109kg.
The 55-year-old from Shandong Province in China took it upon himself to beat the previous record holder, Chinese beekeper Zhang Wei, who had been covered in 83.5kg of bees back in 2011.

To attract the bees to his body Bingguo began his record attempt by attaching a dozen queen bees to his clothing before having bucketfuls of worker bees poured over him.

The stunt, which was overseen by the Carrying the Flag World Records organization, took quite some time as hundreds of thousands of bees were piled on to him by assistant beekeepers.
Officials estimated that around 10,000 bees were needed to add 1kg of weight.

Eventually though, with more than 1.1 million bees covering his body, Bingguo succeeded in breaking the record with a total combined weight of 109.05kg worth of bees.
