What is this object and where did it come from ? Image Credit: @cesarinmp / TikTok
A short clip recently posted up on video sharing site TikTok shows a bizarre object hurtling across the sky.
UFO sightings by airline pilots are often some of the most intriguing and this one is no exception.
The footage, which was recorded out of the cockpit of an Airbus A320s, shows a dark metallic object seemingly moving at high speed above the clouds.
The uploader - a user by the name of CesarMP - is thought to be the plane's pilot.
While not a great deal is known about the circumstances surrounding the video, it is believed that it was filmed during a Viva Air flight over the Colombian city of Medellin.
Some social media users have speculated that the object could be related to the object pursued by US Navy pilots during the USS Nimitz UFO incident, while others have pointed out that the UFO could be a stationary weather balloon that only looks as though it's moving because the plane is moving.
Whatever the case, it's certainly an interesting piece of footage.
I see nothing that shows it isn't just some odd balloon. Just because it's an odd shape means absolutely nothing, custom balloons can be made in any shape. Macy's Thanksgiving parade, hello?
What I don't get is posting it on Tick Tock where the average user is 13 yrs old. Then again, they'll all think it's an alien spacecraft, so I suppose he had a reason. For the rest of us, a balloon is a balloon.
Quillius. Been thinking about your comment and yes of course it looks so much like a balloon and the pilot knew it was out there that I dismissed other possibilities. Then I thought. what if I wanted to hide in plain sight. I'd look like a balloon. Thanks for making me ponder this issue a little deeper. Cheers
just to entertain that for a moment, if we are talking 'aliens' then they would probably have travelled form afar, they would not have known what balloons are so tricky to prepare a vehicle that resembled one. Also due to a balloon being quite limited in the way it moves and speed it probably wouldn't be the wisest disguise...an aeroplane or bird would be better me thinks... (that's assuming you were not just simply reciprocating the tongue in cheek)
A floating low altitude probe that we interpret as a balloon would suggest that it is not possible for them to collect the same information as could be collected in orbit. I can only imagine that advances will be made in which we can detect more information about our planet from orbit without the need to release weather balloons periodically. But maybe there will always be a need to get information about the atmosphere by balloon or drone or some other means within the air. Just exploring this balloon idea a little more, it might be that the shape is a little off from a balloon simply beca... [More]
Reminds me of the Rancher who had a rash of cattle mutilations. Then one day, he saw out over his land, a flying saucer! Holy crap! Uhh, wait, why does that UFO have a helicopter rotor sticking out of the dome top?
I was mainly trying to point out, how would they have known what to build before arriving? they would not have known what a balloon was.... anyhow, I am generally not that keen in trying to determine 'what ifs' as the possibilities are endless. always better to stick to facts and if we know what a balloon looks like and how it acts then we should be able to say its likely a balloon or we are able to dismiss it. something we are unable to do with ET
