A bizarre crime involving the theft of an entire street in Saxony, Germany has left authorities scratching their heads.
According to reports, around 60 tons of cobblestones (worth 30,000 Euros) were removed from a road in the city of Zittau before being hauled off by unknown perpetrators.

The crime, which is thought to have taken place at some point between the 16th and 23rd of December 2021, is now being investigated by local law enforcement.
It is believed that the culprits had brought heavy equipment, including an excavator, to the site and would have also needed access to a fairly large truck to haul the stolen paving stones away.

Unfortunately, due to the location of the scene, it isn't even clear where the thieves went afterwards, meaning that the stolen stones could now be in any number of neighbouring countries.

As things stand, all that's left at the site now is around 300 square meters of sand.

Efforts to track down those responsible remain ongoing.
