Britain has been the subject of numerous invasion plans over the centuries however one previously unknown plan has now been revealed in which an 18th century French general planned to invade the country using American forces.
From Julius Caesar to Adolf Hitler, the invasion of Britain has been a constant theme in the history of these islands, even if the successful attempts have been heavily outnumbered by the unsuccessful ones. Until now, however, one plan has remained unknown: an 18th-century plot to invade with an American army during that country’s War of Independence.

Canada wasn't even a country at the time, it was Britain, and even then you failed more than half your objectives in 1812, and you Canadians still brag about that war constantly. I see you are wearing your lets be a jerk hat. I was making fun haha you know, or are you so bitter it don't matter? lol Yes we were British back then and we are still today, so when can I come by and knock you off that horse. The small pox blanket story is revisionist history. The British did that. Not in our case. We fought for the British.

The Americans were too weak during their 18th century revolution to ever ponder invading Britain. I'm an American, so I'm not speaking out of turn. We simply were too weak. If the French had not supported the American Revolution, we would have lost and Washington would have hanged as the traitor that he was. Yes, by definition, Washington and others who supported the American Revolution were traitors. They were British subjects, who tried to overthrow their British-led government. Anytime you try to overthrow your own government, you're guilty of treason. It is a point lost to many: treason is... [More]

numbers win wars more than tech. ask the british lords who lost so many wars/battles to farmers armed with pitchforks. or any other european or any other nation about that one. although in the revolution the brits actaully had both of these advantages and training. the revolution came down to the last battle at yorktown and if it hadn't been for the french navy finally showing up on time, and the british navy not or unwilling to show up. that is why we won that battle. I would not agree on that. The biggest cause of the British defeat was not the American Continental Army, after all they lost ... [More]

America had no such plan to invade Canada; however the Fenian Brigade did train and plan such an attack. After the civil war the Fenian did form an army of 50,000 men, made up of Union & Confederate soldiers to invade the British colony to the north. They joined up willingly to engage in a cause they felt would free their mother country from the English oppressors. This army was no joke, made up of seasoned, battle hardened veterans from both sides of the Civil War; they were to attack the unprepared British garrison and Canadian Militia with a swift and decisive battle. It was expected th... [More]

America had plans to invade canada in the 30's to destabilize britain as a trading competitor see link http://www.ihr.org/jhr/v12/v12p121_HNAC.html No doubt the pentagon also had more recent plans for retaking britain in case Russia succeeded in conquering europe should the cold war have gone hot!

OK,I'm prepared to be shot down in flames here, but at the time did'nt Americans still think of themselves as Brits?,no taxation without representation etc ?,. That was before the Declaration of Independence. It was about representation, but Farmer George nixed that, so they opted for independence.
