The mystery of who paid $450 million for Leonardo da Vinci's 'Salvator Mundi' has now been solved.
Painted 500 years ago by the Renaissance genius, the piece, which is also known as 'Saviour of the World', made waves in the art world recently when it sold for a record-breaking sum.
The identity of the buyer had remained something of a mystery, but now it turns out that the painting was purchased by Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism in the United Arab Emirates.
It will go on display in the state's new Louvre gallery which took eight years to build.
A spokesman has since stated that the museum is 'looking forward to displaying' the piece.
If this relatively unknown work by Leonardo - not Da Vinci! - is worth almost half a billion dollars, it makes one wonder how much the Mona Lisa is worth.
