Things would soon take a turn for the worse however when, upon stepping on to one of the escalators, Mehmet found himself falling in to a large hole that had suddenly opened up beneath his feet.
Shocked onlookers stopped and stared in horror as the escalator ground to a halt, trapping Mehmet inside. According to reports, it took firefighters around an hour to free him from the mechanism.
He was later treated in hospital for a fractured arm but was fortunately otherwise unscathed.

If you think you are having a bad day, spare a thought for this unfortunate metro commuter in Istanbul.
The incident, which reportedly took place on February 27th in the Turkish city's Ayazaga Metro station, involved Mehmet Ali Erik - a commuter who had been navigating the crowds during rush hour.Things would soon take a turn for the worse however when, upon stepping on to one of the escalators, Mehmet found himself falling in to a large hole that had suddenly opened up beneath his feet.
