The vampiric congregation, which set a new world record, marked the 125th anniversary of Bram Stoker's novel.
There are few characters in horror as widely recognized as Dracula - the blood-sucking Transylvanian vampire who scholars believe may have been at least partially based on 15th-Century Wallachian prince Vlad Dracula, also known as Vlad the Impaler.

Published in 1897, Bram Stoker's iconic novel remains one of the best known works in English literature and has influenced countless books, movies, games and televisions shows.

Its popularity was certainly on show for all to see at Whitby Abbey in North Yorkshire this week when a record-breaking 1,369 people dressed as the iconic vampire congregated en-masse to celebrate the novel's 125th anniversary.
Fans from all over the world traveled to the UK to attend the event, which ultimately saw official recognition by the Guinness Book of World Records.

"We've just broken the Guinness World Record for the Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Vampires with 1369 vampires!" English Heritage wrote on Twitter.

"We'd like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who has come along to Whitby Abbey to help make this happen - you all looked fang-tastic!"
