Most winters here in Montana we usually have a lot of snow and ice but this winter has been unusually mild. When we do have a lot of icicles I always knock them off. The animals are out there (dogs & cats) and I wouldn't want one of them to get stabbed with a falling icicle. When the snow slides off the roof it creates a burm on two sides of the house and that's where my dog likes to take a dump in the winter. Right under the icicles. Odie

I once say an icicle about six feet long go through the top of a car that was under it when it fell. If the passenger had of been in the car it would have impaled him.

There were some really nasty looking ones hanging under an overpass this winter....I was half afraid to drive through there....let alone walk...there's a sidwalk and schoolkids use it everyday...haven't heard of any icicle incidents though, thankfully.

Erm..... I cannot believe they are trying to blame the girl for wearing headphones! What a load of crap! What if she was deaf?! They wouldn't have a leg to stand on then! There should have been visual warnings.

I heard the Sears tower in Chicago sometimes has ice falling that could hurt pedestrians. Probably other skyscrapers in icy conditions as well.

I got a nice scratch on my face from a falling icicle this year. My Sister-in-laws egress window cover was also broken by a huge icicle. My son also likes to eat them. Icicles are common place in Minnesota winters.
