Four in one strange goings-on

This story was submitted to the site by Rob from South Sweden.
Firstly I'd just list to quickly introduce myself. My name is Rob and I originally come from London in the UK. I have, like most people, experienced unexplainable events over the course of my life. And in some cases they were explainable. Either way, there was some other worldly interference. I've faced and accepted the possibilities. . . life goes on. I was a national technical representative engineer (electrical/mechanical). A contractor for many blue chip companies and extremely wealthy individuals. I have since taken the opportunity to launch a global enterprise in tech, where I am a co-founder and CEO.

I met my wife in London while working as a DJ (my creative outlet and passion). Once married, we decided to move to Sweden. We had located a nice property surrounded by forests and lakes, and close to the mrs family as she had been away in London for 10 years. We have lived here for 4 years thus far, and expanded our family by 2, plus a cat and dog.

I felt compelled to write this, following the latest incident, as it was the closest to actual contact.

In the spring of the first year living here we decided to get a dog. A breed that would work well at being a good guard dog and as a member of the family. We plumped for a Rottweiler. As it turns out, a great dog, though still likes to run off due to the open space and wild animals. In the winter of the first year our dog had run away and wasn't seen for just over 3 hours, and it was almost pitch black outside. This wasn't normal as she'd usually return after 20-30mins. I decided to wrap up and slowly drive around with all the windows down (stereo off) and call for her.

I started with the main road that runs past our area. Checking the ditches on both sides of the road, just in case. Nothing. I then started to drive around the lakes and through the forests, all the time circling inward toward home. On the final road, that leads back to our house, there is a track that leads past a telecoms tower and deep into a forest. This would be the final place to check. I knew this route well as this is where I usually walk her. The track is weathered and overgrown in places, though I knew it was drivable to a point. It goes deep into the forest and loops back round to link with the original entrance. We had had some snow so I took my time. I was also aware of the potential in getting stuck, so I drove as far as was sensible then turned the car around to head back.

As I slowly crept back down the hill toward the telecom tower, an extremely loud inhale which became a scream of multiple voices, blasted out of each speaker. It only lasted for a maximum of 3 seconds, but it stopped me dead. Windows up, check! Stereo off, check! Car in gear, check! Foot down race home. When I got home I pulled up to the garage, and there curled up in the snow in front of the garage door was our dog, shaking and with a look of fear and guilt in her eyes. The guilt for running away. We went indoors and it was immediately clear that something was up, so I explained what I had just experienced to my wife. It was strange for sure. I don't scare easily, but I'll admit, for those 3 seconds and the time I was in that spot, I felt extremely vulnerable with a sense of menace. Something didn't want me there, and who was I to argue? Since that evening I have walked the dog almost every night through that particular area without incident and no strange feelings.

Fast forward to the end of last year. I was home alone working in the lounge. A cloudless sky with the Sun setting. It was hunting season, so the animals were indoors, and bangs and pops were to be expected. On this particular evening the bangs and pops sounded more like someone had messed up with their fireworks display, and this series of explosions just seemed to go on and on. In fact it went on for about an hour. I headed upstairs at one point to see if I could see anything from the landing window. There was nothing to be seen but the explosions made the window vibrate. Once my wife had returned I asked whether she had heard the noise. She said that she had, though not for the length of time that I had experienced them. Deciding to file it away as “strange but there must be a logical reason”, I forgot about it. That was until I read an article on an online news site, which happened to also contain a recording. Sure enough it was the same sound that I had heard.
Early 2015, we were hit with a storm carrying 100mph winds. When the weather is like this we usually remain indoors, due to the potential of falling trees. On this particular night, we had snowfall and cloud filled skies, so the surrounding areas were lit up somewhat allowing for pretty good vision. I geared up and decided to take the dog for a walk, though just a short one to allow her to do her business. Whenever we go for a walk I always test my flashlights strength by testing the beam against the telecom tower from the road, before turning up the track into the forest. We were being bullied by the wind as we approached the tower, and I then focused the beam as high up the tower as I could. This is when it happened. The damnedest thing, the top half of the tower illuminated as if in daylight. I could actually make out every detail of the towers structure, though just the top half section.

I immediately switch off my torch and looked up and around for a source. There was absolutely NOTHING that indicated a source, no beams whatsoever. This incident lasted for no more than 5 seconds. I did notice, however, that above the tower was a sound. It sounded like a fan or turbo propulsion unit battling against the high winds. I could make out the clouds rapidly passing overhead, though nothing more. We carried on walking for the first couple of metres along the road before the beaten track, the sound overhead still whirring. I stopped dead in my tracks and looked down at my dog and thought, “not tonight”. We turned tail, and headed back home. All the time I was looking back to the top of the tower, the whirring sound above noticeably connected to that spot as we progressed away. Once again I told my wife what had happened, conscious of how much of a looney these collective experiences were making me sound. Thankfully, she listened and sat there, pondering on the possibilities. The main one being some sort of spotlight placed halfway up the tower illuminating upward. The thing was, there was no beam. The top half of the towers structure appeared to be covered in bright daylight. The next day I drove up to where the tower was and had a good look and walk around to confirm and, apart from the high structure beacons, there was absolutely nothing else.

So, present day, actually 4 nights ago on Sunday 22nd March 2015 at around 20:30, I took the dog for one of her extended weekend walks through the forest and down by a lake before heading back up a road and past a few scattered Summer houses. I had my head torch on, which gives an awesome concentrated beam for quite a long distance, a handheld 9 LED torch that gives a wide beam, as well as the dog having an LED beacon light on her harness. She had done her business and we were heading back down a very long straight road with forests either side that would lead us to a T junction, where we would turn right to be on the home straight. I say straight but it contains a few twists and turns with undulations. It was a clear starry sky, yet Moonless, and pitch black by this point. I was turning my head left, right and then behind to dazzle some of the wildlife as we were passing. I would see pairs of deer eyes peering back with frequency. We were about 50 metres away from the junction when I turned my beam left, right and then behind.

In the distance I saw 2 sets of extremely bright reflections. At first I thought it must be from the road sign for a passing area around that spot. But as I concentrated on what I was seeing, it became obvious that the reflections were in fact moving toward us in an animalistic amble. My initial thought after witnessing this was that it must be people wearing arm reflectors. We came to the junction and headed right, taking one last focused beamed look down the road. Sure enough the highly reflective beams were still heading toward us. As we made some distance, and about to head down one of the twists, I would look back to see if we were still seemingly being followed. Nothing. I kept quickly turning back to check on our pursuers and there was no sign of them. But as we got to the final turn, which was a gradual sweep left, I turned to take one last check.

Right there, no more than 40 metres away on the same road was a single pair of very large reflective eyes beaming back at me and silently closing. And just past that I also noticed a second set of eyes about 70 meters away. I didn't dwell for detail nor alert the dog to what I was seeing, I just turned toward the lights of home and power walked the final 30 metres. I also remember switching off my lights but leaving the dogs beacon on for some reason. I also remember thinking, 'you idiot, now you're f'd!” We made it to the path leading up to the house and didn't look back, closing the gate behind us in one swift motion. I ran to the side of the house and switched my head lamp back on, and focused the beam toward the road. Nothing. We went into the house and I quickly rambled about what had just happened. I also told my wife that it could possibly have been people walking. She quickly pointed out that it's pitch black outside and no one would be walking around without lights of some kind. She did say that it may have been a moose following us out of curiosity, due to it now being mating season. I asked whether it would be normal behaviour for them to walk along the road soundlessly. She said no. I then pointed out that the leading “thing” seemingly appeared out of nowhere just 40 metres behind us whilst the other “thing” was way back. And when I ran to the side of the house to check the road, there was nothing there.

I can't explain it, she can't explain it. It's just been a bizarre series of events with LARGE question marks above them. I'm still kicking myself for not waiting a bit longer to at least make out what it was. Though it may have been for the best to do what I did? Either way, if it was intelligent, it now knows where I live. While I'm sitting here working away on the laptop, with just a floor lamp on, I half expect to see a face peering in through a window back at me. Am I scared? The strange thing is that I'm not. I'd just like to know what they are and find out what they want. I haven't walked that long route since then, but the weekend is fast approaching and I will have to decide whether to or not. If I do, then I shall be equipping night vision. But that would be a huge IF.

If anyone has any theories or questions, I'd be happy to discuss or answer anything. As it is, the series of events are nothing but a mystery right now.

To me it sounds like hallucinations. All the accounts are different and you are the only one who has seen/heard them. The last one was ecpecially weird, since you did not 'alert your dog', the dog should have alerted you since their senses are better than ours. You talk about a telecom tower. It could be the radio waves are messing with your brain.

I doubt that your strange series of events are hallucinations, as was suggested in the previous comment. If you were hallucinating, you would be seeing and hearing other things inside the house and more often than you are, along with other symptoms. I would suggest perhaps taking your wife or a friend with you when you go for a walk again at night so they can also validate these strange goings on. Perhaps taking a video camera of some sort to show others what you are also viewing and hearing. My inital thought was that the forest surrounds are haunted but from the last incident you spoke of, i... [More]
