Locals were left baffled this week when a penguin turned up on the southern coast of England.
The penguin was spotted at Southsea beach near Portsmouth where it was observed waddling around in the harbour. It isn't clear where the penguin came from however some believe it may be a jackass penguin from over 6,000 miles away in South Africa. This isn't the first time a penguin has turned up in the wrong place in recent times either, an emperor penguin from the Antarctic caused quite a stir when it turned up in New Zealand a few months ago.
The Sun newspaper published grainy footage of a black and white seabird diving in and out of the waves on Sunday, as the south coast enjoyed record October temperatures. Earlier, the bird is said to have been seen waddling around the harbour to the surprise of onlookers.
