When the clock strikes 1:11

Years ago my mother commented that every time she looked at the clock, it was displaying the three same numbers. No doubt this wouldn’t be noticed before the advent of the digital clock. She described an uncanny jolt that would shock through her mind at each sighting. Ashamedly, I admit I was somewhat less than wildly impressed and would just mumble something polite with a shrugging hint that perhaps we could move our conversation towards something more interesting. I had no idea why this business with the clock had so ignited her imagination and certainly hadn’t a clue as to its significance or whether indeed there could even be one. This was before of course it happened to me.

Some years later I noticed this oddity happening to me. It seemed like every time I glanced at a clock, it was reading 1:11 or 2:22 or 11:11 etc. It happened so often that I just couldn’t ignore it, in fact reaching a point when I was even expecting it. Then one day, inexplicably, it would just stop and I would forget about the matter entirely. Every once in the while, a friend or a client would describe this clock sequencing happening to them. Naturally, because I am a spiritual advisor, they expected me to have some explanation. Annoyingly there was little I could offer in the way of cogent explanation other than a few of my personal and rather inane ponderings.

Now it’s happening to me again. As soon as I started noticing it a few weeks ago, I wondered how many times it has happened to me since my mother first described it more than 30 years ago. I deeply regret not having paid closer attention to what was going on in my mother’s life at the time. I know she had become more actively involved in spiritualism and was meeting weekly with a spiritual group that she was very enthusiastic about. Other than this, I don’t remember anything taking place in her life that was especially notable. Nor do I remember what was taking place in my life when it has happened to me before.

Manifesting Soul Purpose

Like any phenomena, there are a number of theories espoused to explain this experience but none of them really feel like a fit for me. Doreen Virtue aligns this phenomena with the angels (her iconography of choice) sending messages. The angels, according to Dr. Virtue, are telling us we are on the right path for our soul to manifest its special, spiritual purpose. Although I rather favour this interpretation since like much of her work, it is so comforting and positive; it fails to strike an accurate chord. Like a dream interpreted correctly, I should feel click when the appropriate explanation crosses my path. I still have more questions than answers. What ifs, maybes, and ponderings abound.

When I notice these numbers on my clock, I am abruptly at attention. I am noticing the time, not simply glancing at it. What is gripping my attention most acutely is the numbers themselves. I consider the meaning of the numbers individually and what their sum might mean. When it happens to you, you’ll find yourself unable to ignore it. It will set you off on a path of contemplation, concern and possibly even alarm. Like seeing an apparition, UFO, or rare beast, your mind immediately scrambles around to make sense of it. You know you are receiving a message, but what the heck is it?
Suddenly the Clock Code Just Stops

The second half of this pondering happens when it simply stops. Typically you’ll simply not even notice that it’s stopped which is frustrating because that likely means you won’t be paying attention when the event happens that the code was alerting you in the first place. Every time I’ve experienced it, I’ve promised myself I will pay very close attention to what happens in my life following its advent and I don’t.

Soul Number 6

At least once a day, I glance at the clock to find myself staring at all the same numbers on the clock. I’m approaching my 60th birthday which is another number that carries significance for me. My soul number being 6 (yes there is a way to calculate this number using your birthday), may be triggering this phenomena just now but that would suggest there are many meanings attached to this coded message. Maybe it presages change. Maybe it is simply a way to get us to pay attention to time in a way we are failing to do. Like staring through a fog, I wonder what forms will emerge and whether they will be friend or foe.

Waking Up to Miracles in the Now

I wonder if there is a collective event taking place that many in the world are supposed to notice. Maybe it’s not just happening to me but then I’d love to know who else it experiencing it at the same time. I promised myself that this time I will absolutely pay close attention to what happens following and carefully note it. The only way to decode a message is to pay attention which feels like this is at the core of this clock sequence. Pay attention right now it seems to be nudging me to do. Is something being rooted or changed? Or is it simply a way for spirit to wake us up to being in the present moment when miracles do happen and life’s mysteries cannot always be explained?

Yes. This happens to me. 8:31. My birthday month and day. It's very strange indeed...

This has occurred to me thousands of times and the only change I have seen over the past 20 years is that I see 5 and 6 "1's" instead of just 4. I randomly saw 6 today.

This happens to me too. In the last month alone I have seen the time 11:11 about 20 times! That's a lot if you think about it! And it really does grab my attention! I have heard the same story about its meaning and it kind of gives me comfort to know that I am where I'm meant to be. It's funny, one day my phone said it was 11:11am and it made me feel like calling my mum (we live distant) and when I hung up, it said we were on the phone for 11minutes and my battery was at 11% I just smiled

(Old article, by the way..) This is a pretty well known and well understood phenomena, and is simply your brain pattern-matching. Your mind is extraordinarily clever at also predicting times, so it will (via your built in body clock) subconsciously know when it should start looking again. Covered here at UM in this and other threads, and the first answer posted here is an excellent coverage.

For years, I would say for a good ten years this same exact thing would happen with me as well. Not anymore. I consider the number as my lucky one.

Very weird I get 11:11 too for the last 4 years! household quartz clocks, watches, DVD timer, truck clock stop on it, the weighted cookoo clock no matter when you set it and I notice it a lot when I see the digital clocks when they hit the same number. I figure my subconscious has me look at the digital clocks at the same time day and night since the other ones were stopping on 11:11. It's very creepy and seems beyond coincidence since I hear of so many other people getting this number too. I don't really know what it means to this day, it's very creepy! Is it really a time or the date of some... [More]

I think our body-clocks give us an amazing time-keeping ability. If I wake up in the night, I can usually guess (without any clues) roughly what time it is, and sometimes guess exactly right. So, if you were to fixate on a specific time, there is every chance that you can wake yourself up for it.

I get 11:11 very frequently, for almost a year I would look at the clock in the morning and at night at this time even though I wasn't in a daily routine. As others have stated though this is just your brain getting used to seeing it and telling you to look like an alarm clock. I guess 11:11 is just popular since it is so easy to remember?

I was going to say that people usually cite 11:11 for this 'phenomena' , not 1:11 but so many have beat me to it ! 2:13 Now lets see if that keeps popping up ( as much as the 2:30 dentist appointment )
