'Glowing alien creature' revealed as PR stunt

A strange luminescent creature watched by crowds of people at Bristol harbor has turned out to be a hoax.
Footage of the spectacle emerged earlier this week and generated significant interest online. The video shows members of the public flocking around the edge of the harbor to view and photograph the 'creature' which resembled a large luminescent jellyfish or squid.

The truth was finally revealed today however when it was announced that the whole thing was nothing more than an elaborate PR stunt for the TV channel "Watch" that is attempting to promote a new TV series called "The Happenings" from the producers of Derren Brown.
"In The Happenings magicians Barry and Stuart use techniques of illusion to bring incredible movie-like experiences to British and American towns," said the channel's general manager Steve Hornsey.

The revelation came as a bit of a let down to those who were hoping that the spectacle had been something genuinely unexplained, with theories ranging from a totally new species of deep sea creature to aquatic extraterrestrials like those from hit movie "The Abyss".

Even if its fake, still looks interesting. If its not, and some deep sea gelly fish got lost. Well, its one for the archives. If its a piece of local fakery well done I say.

It's very bright. Seems artificial. I made a post about the Japanese firefly squid a while back. Theyre not half this bright

http://www.unexplain...+firefly +squid Never seen that before. Sureal in the extreme. Can't imagine tucking into something that visually imopressive. Would be like buying vacum packed parrots at TESCO. Hope the Bristol thing is fake. There should be more strange whimsy about the place.

It's wwwaayyyyy too bright. Bioluminescent animals do not illuminate the water around them, quite that brightly. They look like LED lights to me. It also didn't seem to move. If it had tenticles, they seemed to just remain motionless. I call shenanigans. I'm not convinced

Does anyone know how they did that ?

Sorry everyone, I've just found this - http://www.telegraph...s-PR-stunt.html So, it's a hoax. Guess it goes to show that you shouldn't entirely believe so readily in a story like this one. It is pretty though. It would be cool if it was an unknown creature.
