Europa's hidden secret: is there life out there ?

Jupiter's moon Europa may seem like a barren ball of ice but underneath that shell could be oceans teeming with life.
Its the single most promising place to look for life in the known universe - the icy moon of gas giant Jupiter is thought by many to be home to a vast ocean of liquid water that could one day reveal our first glimpse of extraterrestrial life forms.
It's not only one of the most important questions for science; it's one of the great unanswered questions in human history. We've been peering into the night sky for thousands of years, wondering if we are alone.

I watched a BBC program last night called The wonders of the solar system hosted by Brian Cox an x pop star turned scientist and a good one at that. He spoke of the moon Europa and it's vast under ice crust world of 12 mile deep oceans. My link

I think there is a real possibility that there is some critters swimming around on Europa. If it turns out there is, then the speculation that life is everywhere in the Universe will come a giant leap forward to becoming the general opinion.

I wish they were running the show in the States. Can't even download it on my pc. Bummer BBC.

Where there's ice there's water, and under that ice, like they said, may be an ocean

Imaging watching the live broadcast of the submarine which will explore the unknown water, when the submarine gets unloaded from the machine, you see total darkness, then then submarine turns on it's light, you see the dark fathomless ocean of Europa in it's mysterious glory, as the submarine delves deeper into the ocean, you see bizarre small critters coming near the submarine to take good look at the stranger. As it delves even deeper, the camera catches something big moving down the abyss, something of titanic size enormous strength. Our submarine encounters the creature up close, it's grot... [More]

Hope whoever goes there find some red tuna to repopulate the Mediterranean sea... where all of those fishies have literally disappeared thanks to the Japanese appetite.

Apparently he's a big hit with the ladies and science is becoming sexy! If it drags some female away from Eastenders or some other brain rot TV drivel then that's a result....

There seems to be a continual assumption that if life exists outside our own planet, that the same elements, i.e. water, would be required for its existence. It seems more likely to me that other forms of life would exist or form in ways we are unaware of and probably cannot comprehend. Ultimately, we have limited knowledge & despite continual scientific discoveries & findings & developments, there is a lot we will never know. Instead of theorizing that Europa is the most likely body for alien habitation, maybe one could spectulate that it is the most likely to contain life which r... [More]
