The UFO Phenomenon

UFO reports have been in decline since 2014

The number of people reporting sightings of UFOs has been in sharp decline and nobody is quite sure why.
According to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), the number of sightings had been steadily rising since the 90s before suffering a sudden, sharp decline around four years ago.

The figure has dropped from 8,670 reports in 2014 to a mere 1,329 as of June of this year.

"The significant decrease in the number of reports has baffled everyone investigating within the UFO field," NUFORC founder Peter Davenport told Business Insider.

"They see the same trend and they're all confused."
"It could just be that there are fewer and fewer incidents, but it's also possible that reports to UFO organisations are being intercepted electronically. "

Alex Griffioen, co-founder of the Netherlands-based UFO Disclosure Office, has another theory.

"A decrease in the number of reports doesn't actually equate to a drop in the number of UFO sightings," he said. "It may also mean the NUFORC website has become more difficult to find or perhaps less useful."

Griffioen has also suggested that an increase in drone use may be a big contributing factor.

"Drones are becoming cheaper and more popular, and are taking on stranger and stranger shapes every day," he said. "We hear and read that they can do more and more, so people now respond to seeing strange moving lights with: 'it'll be a drone'."

I know it probably doesn't help, but for me, when you add up the two most critical issues (imo), then the fact that we have NO, and I repeat NO physical evidence or even verifiable fotoage/images that clearly show non terrestrial visitation, and the best examples are merely stories... well, I think the two issues are easily sufficient to cover the whole gamut of claims.  Those issues are: - the HUGE cultural love/desire for aliens! Ie that there be other races out there, within easy reach, and visiting us.  I too have that desire, but ... well, I think it's very clear that any races out the... [More]

lol...……your casual resort to snide remarks says it all about you, and your cynical ilk. Too bad you weren't able to produce any plausible explanation. But you did posit that it was a school of fish ! And too bad that fish are not white when seen from above, an immediate serious problem with that theory. But I guess that was an improvement on being told it was a whale !

This is simply a dishonest remark, no such claim was made, so in an attempt to discredit a contributor (me), you have only discredited yourself !    A more thoughtful response would have been to admit you could not say with any reliability, what I might have witnessed,( which incidentally was exactly my position, not the blatant lie in the quote box above) but blind freddy can see you have a kit-bag of prejudices you need to feed and water on a regular basis, and it is the early resort to casual lies that gives that up. There will be no further replies to you.

Oh jeez. The snide remark maker thinks anything contrary to their opinion is snide. Oh dear me. Your post #120 is full of your snide remarks. Too bad you can only produce an uninteresting story based on your personal ignorance of the marine world. Too bad you don't know that fish can appear white from above. Simply a good illustration of your ignorance of the marine world. A school of fish is clearly the best idea. The non-human made craft is simply without merit.

Scuba diving years back I was suddenly having trouble to see. I looked up to see a huge black disk over me. I floated up and entered a huge school of smelt that dispersed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smelt_(fish) https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/increasing-pressure-to-harvest-small-fish-worries-scientists/ https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo/school-of-fish-hunt.html https://sites.google.com/site/marinestudiesper3/chapter-8/fish-behavior There are lots of photos there of small silvery fish forming ball shaped schools. That shows that fish can look white from above. Apparently, you were... [More]

BTW, I'd invite readers to carefully examine that old thread and the new comments made here, and note: - it's about an underwater object...... - my reply at the time and the dismissal it - and other potential possibilities - received - the story changes, both in the original thread and now here, including some rather important items left out of the initial story and then added in later - one might be tempted to suggest those additions were to 'fend off' possibilities.... I'd also note that if I made a claim like the one about having seen lots of sunfish while boating (really?), I'd be posti... [More]

Well not for you. Are you still in contact with your friend? Ask him what planet it was from.

In his dotage, and I have not seen him for many years. He was no fool, a successful businessman who was semi-retired by 50.

As has already been stated, they're all so engrossed with gawping at their phones, they probably wouldn't notice a nuclear explosion until the shockwave knocked the phone out of their hand, and even then they'd probably think it was caused by the game they were playing.

No, it's too bad that you don't LISTEN to plausible explanation, instead spruiking false information, like this: Ignorant hogwash.  As you were told on the original thread and you would know if you were genuinely familiar with ocean life, many, many fish have white or silvery upper sides.  Stereo has now given schooling behaviours that cause exactly that appearance and to add my 2c, here's the details about Ocean Sunfish, again... from the Wiki: Sunfish are often a very pale grey or close to white.  From the National Geographic - so drop the attitude, Habitat and consider that others mi...
