Man opens fire on 'Bigfoot' in national park

A camper is being investigated for opening fire in a US national park after an alleged encounter with Bigfoot.
The alarm was raised at Mammoth Cave in Kentucky on Sunday after two campers - Madelyn Durand and Brad Ginn - were awoken at 11pm by a frantic man with a gun and a flashlight.

"We got out and saw a man [and his son] who told us their campsite had been destroyed by someone or something," said Durand. "We heard them coming back about 10 minutes later."

"We heard them yelling 'I see it'."
"We saw the flash from his gun, and he shot maybe 20 yards from the side of our tent into the pitch-black darkness. I was mostly just concerned about him shooting the gun in the middle of the night without him really seeing anything."

After dialling 911, the couple decided to hike back to their car rather than stay overnight.

US laws prohibit the discharge of firearms within the confines of a national park.

Park rangers later searched the area but found no evidence of a creature.

Mostly they don't bother humans, unless injured, startled,  or it's a Mama with cubs. Please note I am NOT talking about grizzly bears!  In my neck of the woods, black bears are a very common sight. Luckily, they are not overly aggressive, unless provoked.

But "losing touch with reality" does explain him seeing Bigfoot....

I was just commenting on eating squirrels.  Maybe he enhanced his moonshine with some other chemicals. Maybe he needed an excuse to fire off his gun. Maybe he is one of those people that never should be allowed to hunt, the shoot at a sound wacko.

Yes, I got it. The guy in the article was "losing touch with reality".
