Two separate incidents involving passenger airliners narrowly avoiding unidentified objects were detailed in the reports.
Coming perilously close to another object while in the air is a harrowing experience for any pilot, but when it is not even clear what the object is, the situation can quickly become very dangerous.

Two such incidents - both of which occurred over England - were recently brought to light following a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Essex Police.

The first, which was reported by the pilots of a Ryanair flight which took off from Stansted Airport in Essex, was described as a "black object" that was encountered at 4,000ft.
According to the log, the object "passed within 20 meters of the aircraft, the plane was traveling at 230mph and the object was traveling from north to south. They have said that it was possibly a drone but the drone monitoring equipment at the airport has not picked it up."

The second incident, which again occurred near Stansted Airport, involved three separate airliners which all reported an unidentified object within their vicinity.

Two of the planes picked something up on their traffic collision avoidance systems but none of the pilots were able to set eyes upon the object.

No definitive explanation for either incident was ever found.

Obvious self-propelled, radar-invisible mylar balloon.  I mean, I wasn't there, I have no frame of reference, and no information beyond the 150 words I just read, but that doesn't stop me from anonymously vomting forth sweeping conclusions on the internet which contradict what I just read if I put down my Diet Coke and think about it. Next topic!

Other than saying it was "black", deions were severely lacking. And that is surprising, as pilots are trained observers.  No idea what this is about
