NASA believes that the Sun's magnetic field will soon undergo a significant but harmless change.
It might sound worrying but the Sun's magnetic field actually flips all the time - approximately once every 11 years. Observatory measurements indicate that the next flip will be happening very soon and the Sun's poles are already beginning to change. Aside from a few climatic changes here on Earth however the event should not have any appreciable effect on our planet.
"It looks like we're no more than 3 to 4 months away from a complete field reversal," said physicist Todd Hoeksema. "This change will have ripple effects throughout the solar system."
You won't be able to see it, but it might affect the Earth's climate - the sun's magnetic field is going through a big change.
