A Thai woman has ended up in hospital after a large python slithered out of her bathroom toilet.
57-year-old Rampeung Onlamai had just got out of the shower in her home in Samkok, Thailand when she came face to face with a huge snake that sank its teeth in to her hand and then attempted to drag her down the drain.

Onlamai grabbed a broom and tried to fend off the reptile while shouting for her daughter who eventually managed to prise the python's powerful head off of her mother's hand.

The snake, which appeared to have gained access to the bathroom through the toilet, was later captured by wildlife officials after the two women raised the alarm.

It isn't clear where the reptile had come from or how it had ended up in the drainage system.

I have read several of these stories. While I am ot trying to debunk any of them, I ahve began to wonder just how large are the drains in the bathrooms over there? It would take a large hole in the bottom of a toilet bowl to let a snake of much size pass thru, and what about the water which stands in the "traps"? If not for this the toilet would not flush and the smell from the drain would become unbareable.

I am sceptical of these stories too, but that is based on our experience with toilets. In some places around the world they are nothing more than a hole in the floor with a straight pipe/tunnel leading outside. BTW Welcome to UM I send Christmas Cards to our plumber every year.

This settles it, I'm using a composting toilet in my cabin once I build it. As a child I lived in a home with an out house and no hot water. We boiled water in something called a deep well to wash our hair and clean up. Heat was a fireplace in the livingroom. Hey, I had something most of my school friends didn't. My own horse. Life was good.
