A high-profile mass UFO sighting in Australia is still no closer to being solved after five decades.
The incident took place on April 6, 1966 when a significant number of people, including students and teachers from Westall High School and Westall State School, observed three metallic objects silently maneuvering through the skies over Melbourne in the Australian state of Victoria.

According to witness accounts the objects, which bore no obvious markings, landed briefly in a paddock near the schools before taking off again and disappearing. An investigation of the field afterwards revealed the presence of several large circles of flattened grass.

"It was so unusual ... it occurred in broad daylight and had been seen by so many people landing on the ground, before taking off again," said researcher Shane Ryan.

"The event was obviously sizeable enough to muster a big response. Whatever it was that happened led to government agencies examining the site and taking soil samples."
Interest in the case would later skyrocket when several of the witnesses claimed to have been visited by dark-suited officials warning them not to speak out about what they had seen.

Joy Clarke, who was 12 at the time of the incident, vividly recalls what happened that day.

"I was in class when students rushed in and told us the story," she said. "We rushed down to the oval and I saw three flying saucers on that day. My personal belief is they weren't of this world."

"They were definitely from somewhere else because I have never seen anything like it at all."

Folks, you really need to realise that back in those days, people loved to make stuff up and exaggerate, especially with something like this - back in the 60's, many folks still believed in aliens building canals on Mars.... It was an age of naivety - just watch I Dream of Jeannie and you'll get the flavor..... Wut ? ....and many folk these days DON'T believe in this type of stuff any longer Charlz ? - or still exaggerate and make stuff up ? From what I have gathered many still do - just check out all the UFO / alien garbage on youtube (which I know you love) Not to mention - the many things t... [More]

This wasn't described anything like a balloon by witnesses. It's clear this was the real deal just like the Zimbabwe school ufo in 1994 where all the kids and teachers to this day stand by their story. You won't find the tin foil hat debunkers round this story because it's got all bases covered. It's beyond ridiculous now after all these decades and governments need to come out with truth with who or what these things are. It's like when Americans denied Area51 even existed even tho everyone knew about it, it was the biggest known secret yet still wouldn't admit it, just comical in the end. I ... [More]

Yes, QxC, so far we have had a LOT of BS, eg: - that children as young as seven were confronted by men in black suits - that the area was 'swarmed' - that not one of the 'witnesses' changed their stories And 'Heisenberg', I'm one of the debunkers that 'won't be found around this story because it has all the bases covered' - there are others here who may be over later. So, rather than handwave, shall we go through the actual FACTS rather than the wild claims? How many of you have actually gone back the ORIGINAL reports? Not many by the looks... Funnily enough... 1966 was back in the days when SLR film cameras were taking off, and lots of folks had them, or just plain old Instamatics and Brownies. Yet no-one, despite this being in quite accessible and open ground, got a photo. (And no-one complained about the MIB taking their cameras....) Some days after, there were reports of scorch marks, but still no pictures (although a news crew actually faked some for their story). I guess every single person in that town, and all the visitors that came and looked, all got their cameras and memories wiped by that flash thingy that Agent K used..... [More]

I can only imagine that the government would threaten anybody who may have witnessed a top-secret experimental craft, no matter their age.
