Dave Davies was one of fourteen children who witnessed an object land outside their school in 1977.
The encounter was one of several UFO sightings reported in the Broad Haven area of Wales during the late 1970s as part of what would come to be known as the 'Broad Haven Triangle' mystery.

Davies' experience occurred on February 4th, 1977 when he and a group of classmates spotted a yellow cigar-shaped object descending in to a nearby field while they were out playing football.

The fourteen children along with their head teacher watched in amazement as a strange humanoid figure dressed in a silver outfit emerged from the object right in front of their eyes.

The children were later asked to sketch what they'd seen and produced eerily similar drawings.

One of the youngsters present that day was Dave Davies who is now 49. To him, the memory of the experience kick-started a life-long interest in the UFO phenomenon and an unquenchable desire to understand exactly what it is that he and the other children had witnessed.
"The sighting only lasted a few seconds but is burned on my memory like a photograph," he said.

"I've spent my entire life and countless thousands of pounds trying to find answers about what we saw that day. It has been a lifetime's fascination driven by a desire to get to the truth."

As a teenager however not everyone was willing to take his experience seriously.

"I suffered years of bullying and abuse during my secondary school years," he said. "Some of the bullying was horrific but however much I was beaten I would never recant on my account."

"My personal inclination is that our particular sighting had a terrestrial origin, however I have never ruled anything out."

I think the usual deion is that it's not really cylindrical, but is tapered at both ends, so the middle is fatter than the tips. Not being a cigar aficionado, I don't know if that's really an accurate deion of a cigar. No, my friend, you did describe the classic doobie, however. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

I'll entertain this idea with the suggestion that perhaps it's a "saucer" viewed in profile! As much as i see a lot of Freudian imagery in the cigar shape, the good ol' doctor himself is attributed with saying, confronted with his smoking habits: "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." But that is just a peni-....errrr, an anectode.

Not a doobie aficionado either. I do smoke salmon once in a while... LOL me either (any more). (Was going to say in original post) A Cuban (or Dominican, if you fancy) rolling a cigar to those specifications you mentioned would likely get his hands cut off. Not picking on ya bud, just havin' a little fun with it.

Lol at 'illusion'. Would've had to have been a persistent one... "Our sighting was not the last visit to the school though and unbeknown to the children and most of the small community the craft returned a few days later and was on this occasion seen by a teacher and three of the canteen staff."

Well I'm going to tell a story so you can all make fun of me, lol, never really told the story before, happened when i was 13, I lived in Ohio and my mother decided we'd accompany my aunt to pick up her nephew from finishing his stint in the Air Force, he was being discharged in Montana, so we were going to make it a cross country vacation of sorts to see the country. We had a AAA trip tick if you remember those, took us through the Badlands on the way there, I remember it was hours of seeing nothing, I remember looking at the sky because the scenery out west was so wonderful to me, coming fro... Well, you were 13 and you mum didn’t really seem to think it was anything special, so it probably wasn’t. Can you ask her about it and let us know what she says? (Don’t prompt her, just ask if she remembers you seeing something in the sky on that drive, and see what she recalls)

Let's just clarify - NO teacher saw it, only kids....  The teacher 'verified' that the kids all draw something similar.  And it was likely this: http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/ufo-sightings-30-years-ago-2340895 Certainly, there was some pranking done using Harrier VTOL jets and silvery fire suits from two separate sources.   And while I sympathise with the guy.. a bit.. to be a victim of bullying 30 years ago?  What a shocking, unheard of situation...{ahem} FTR I was a shy, ugly, gawkish, nerdish kid and got *lots* of bullying back then.  It's what happens afterwards that ma...
