Three amateur Bigfoot hunters ended up is custody after one of them accidentally shot one of his friends.
According to the Oklahoma Sheriff's Department, the three men had been attempting to hunt down the elusive hominid on Saturday night when one of them became spooked, believing he'd run in to the legendary creature, and managed to put a bullet in his friend's back instead.

The men immediately called the emergency services who arrived promptly on the scene. Despite the nature of the injury the man who was shot is expected to survive the ordeal.

Authorities investigating the incident were unable to locate any sign of the weapon used in the shooting but concluded that the incident was purely accidental. Sheriff Scott Walton admitted that the circumstances surrounding the shooting were a little unusual. "When you start off with an explanation like that, do you believe anything after that ?" he said.

Any time you have people with gun in close proximity to each other it's a dangerous proposition. Shoot at something and the round passes through whatever it was and hits another person or a ricochet. Where I live now everyone hunts with shotguns because bullets can travel great distances and kill someone that you'll never see. I used to wait for deer to line themselves up with a tree so I had something to stop the bullet if it passed threw. That is how my step-brother got two deer with one shot his first hunt out as just a kid.

What has Bigfoot ever done to make people want to kill it, you aint got no chance as its really a Wookie, from a Galaxy far far away. It doesn't want to be found. That's enough reason to make me want to kill one. What is Bigfoot trying to hide?

I have read over the years that several have claimed to have shot one, but they all had reasons why they couldn't get the body out, If BF supposedly weighs in around 800 pounds, which is like 350 kg, that is like trying to pack out an entire Elk. It just can't be done without lots of help, severals trips, or a motorized vehicle.

I agree. Kill one in order to understand and protect the entire species - it's the John Audubon approach. Most folks don't know that all of those beautiful bird paintings were done using the dead birds he had just shot as models. Ah, Mr Audubon, who would call a day where he shot less then 100 birds a bad day.

None of these guys carried a pack saw?? I would of sawed his legs off with a wire saw and packed him on the horse.

I keep forgetting, as a city guy, that a large percentage of rural people still actually have horses. Strangely, I've not read many stories about people seeing BF while on horseback.

Strangely, I've not read many stories about people seeing BF while on horseback. Which is strange, considering most animals really don't pay much attention to a man on a horse. I have deer hunted on horseback, and while they may be startled at first, once they see, smell the horse they stop and calm down. Same with many other animals I have experienced on horseback.

In the PGF, they were on horses as well. Patterson jumped off his horse and was filming which is why it was all jerky and jumpy in the original film.
